Studying Young Minds, and How to Teach Them - Read Full Article

Interesting article in the NYT regarding the teaching of Math. We've introduced a new tool to the children in December, a manipulative developed by Adrian Treffers called the rekenrek. It's a counting frame that encourages automaticiity in addition and subtraction. We've seen some interesting results regarding subitizing. Stop by my office and I'll show you what I mean. It's exciting to read new research that supports our work.
